Unlimited Aspirations, Limited Focus and Energy.

The world is filled with people, a lot of people. Most people in the world have aspirations, but there are three major drawbacks to these aspirations:

1)You have too many aspirations and no concentrated focus on any one of them.

2)Your aspirations are misguided. You may aspire to own a Ferrari while the real aspiration here is getting rich and extremely financially secure.

3)You just like to dream about your aspirations and not actually pursue them.

While the above drawbacks are pretty self explanatory, there is one primary drawback on which the topic of today’s article is based on. The primary topic of this article today is related to the first drawback. Limited energy and focus.

Before we dive deep into the explanations, let’s take an example :

Manaz is an Engineering Undergrad. Manaz has high aspirations in life and naturally a lot of goals. Manaz wakes up on a Monday morning getting ready to go to his University. Naturally he’s stressed and under pressure, he needs to get some research work done for University, prepare and complete his practical experiments list. He also has to study for the upcoming assignments and unit tests, which gap the distance between his present week and his exam week. Apart from the regular course load, Manaz also does private projects aligned with his course for his skill development and to satisfy his curiosity. While he manages his studies, research work and lab work at college, he gets home and immediately gets to work on his technical project, its about 8 pm, he has to hit the gym too. He comes back from the gym and immediately gets to publishing his article on his blog website which he wrote while commuting to his University and any time he got in between that.

Manaz is a hardworking, dedicated man, he’s juggling his college’s course load, research work, assignments and tests, technical project, fitness, blog website and his Exam preparation.

All of this puts a lot of stress on Manaz but this isn’t anything new to him, he did these last semester too, Manaz managed to score an above average score in his academics, get a research paper published in a reputed journal and maintain his fitness all along. While the load might have been inferior to the one he has now, he knows he can manage these and get the necessary tasks executed in the right time.

What according to you Manaz’s future look like? Personally, I would say something like this :

Manaz enters a great university to complete his Master’s Program, he manages to get a decent paying job, he is fit throughout all this but not necessarily too muscular, he also his blog website running on the side which brings in a little disposable side income.

On the other hand, let’s say Manaz focused on one of those things instead of juggling all these. Here are what his possibilities look like :

  1. If he focused entirely on his academics and research paper, he would now be a PhD holder from not a great university but a worlds top 50 university.
  2. If he focused entirely on his technical projects, it is safe to assume he would be a CEO of a company or have multiple of his business ventures going on which he owns.
  3. If he focused entirely on his fitness, then it wouldn’t be surprising to assume that he would probably be a fitness influencer now who would be extremely muscular and might even endorse or have supplement brands of his own.
  4. If he focused entirely on his blog website, he would be a fulltime blogger earning a good chunk of money every month from ads or paid articles.

All of the above is considering that a huge amount of work is done with sincere dedication in the given field.

As we can, the possibilities can be endless depending on what he pursues and we are no one to judge what is good for Manaz or bad, maybe Manaz likes what he currently has, an average job with a good side income or maybe someone else prefers to be a fitness influencer or a blogger, the point here is, your actions and focus on your ambition now completely decide the outcome of you future. If you have multiple tasks you have your outmost focus on, you will be getting a share from the whole pie from multiple pie’s as opposed to getting the majority of a single pie.

Regardless of the path you choose, your ambitions and goals are pretty much useless if you cannot dedicate yourself behind them and pursue them relentlessly, whether it be a single goal or multiple goals.

TLDR : People have a lot of aspirations but these aspirations have drawbacks, the biggest of drawbacks from these aspirations is that people have limited focus and energy. People either put no focus or shared focus into tasks/goals leading to them getting only a share of what they could have originally gotten had they given focus to a singular complete task.
